Alex listening to Caroline
Caroline Key talked with the class about Audio Techniques for film. The class was interested in her films that she invited us to watch because all of the films were significant to audio as an art form. Caroline had a lot of great information to share with the class: “…sound becomes more of an active player… you’ll know how [sound] will make a big impact in your film…”.
Many students were interested in learning the technique of sound in film, and they were also excited about the equipment used to capture sound used for film.
The workshop opened many creative doors for the students, and I believe that the class will use a lot of techniques that Caroline Key has taught. Having this workshop was very important, not only because the students will have more to work with in their final projects, but also because the students, on a personal level, are being exposed to another career choice. Introducing Caroline and her profession broadens the students’ view of the options available to them in the film industry.
Caroline blessed us with her knowledge of the art of sound in filmmaking, “Sound is a really great way to bridge things in film…Sound adds space”
